About Us
I decided to go natural several YEARS after first considering it. Why did it take so long to actually do it? Well, if you remember sitting near a hot stove on Saturday as a significant part of your childhood hair routine, then you know the answer to this. For GENERATIONS our mothers and foremothers have passed down lies to us. No, they did not mean to do this. They were just passing down what had been passed down to them in the way in which it was passed to them. Their intentions were to actually help us to adjust and fit into the culture at large. The large black hair care companies and many salons encourage us to relax our hair so that we can be beautiful and desirable. These are multi-billion dollar industries. Black women spend more money on their hair than ANY other group of women on the planet. We criticize our young people for spending most of their disposable income on expensive clothing, shoes, and rims, but we do the same thing with our hair. We dedicate the majority of our time on Saturdays to the salon or whomever is coming over to 'fix our hair.' We are so willing to sit for these long periods of time and spend money that we do not REALLY have. Remember, there is a HUGE difference between being able to pay for something and being able to affford it. This site will teach you how to kick your addiction to creamy crack (relaxers), transition your hair back to its natural state, and take care of your hair YOURSELF. You will learn very quick, easy, and cheap ways to look gorgeous at home. You will spend only 1% - 2% of you time and money. Most Black women will spend $60.00 - 150.00 per hair session and not blink an eye. A great friend once told me to STOP apologizing for who I am. Another great friend once told me to CELEBRATE who I am. I have been natural for approximately 3 years. I have had some reactions that were very positive and some that were very negative. The last 3 years have been a journey of self discovery and appreciating the gifts that the Creator has given me. This has been a journey that has taught me to be myself -- without apology. |
