It is a good idea to make scalp massage a part of your regular hair routine.Scalp massages deliver oxygen-rich blood to your hair follicles. Scalp massages also increases the amount of sebum your scalp produces. Sebum is your scalps natural oil which is produced to protect your hair. Scalp massage encourages hair growth and combats hair loss.

To give yourself a scalp massage, use the pads of your fingers (not the nails) and spread them out over your scalp. Press lightly and rotate the skin. Do not move your fingers over your scalp. Rotate the skin in one area then move to another area of the scalp until the whole area is covered. This should be a slow, comfortable, kneading motion.

You can massage your scalp with or without oil. Most people start the massage at their forehead area (your edges) and end at the nape. You can also massage your scalp when you are shampooing or conditioning your hair.
